“And he said, Come. And when Peter was come down out of the ship, he walked on the water, to go to Jesus.” Matthew 14:29 (KJV)
During this COVID-19 pandemic, we are all experiencing whirlwinds of emotions regarding the future and the uncertainty it holds. What are you facing right now that is making you fearful and hopeless? Is it the pressure to meet expectations from friends and family? The uncertainty of your future? Or your financial situation? Whatever it may be, God is not discouraged by any of it because His mighty power can never be compared to the circumstances we experience here on earth. When Jesus approached the disciples in the boat in the midst of a storm, they became fearful by just seeing His silhouette walking on water, but He assured them, “don’t be afraid.” Often times we see our problems surfacing from a distance and immediately we are crippled by anxiety of not knowing how to deal with them or where they are coming from. But the word of God assures us not to fear! God is not governed or perturbed by the chaotic situations that spring up ever-so-frequently in our lives. It does not matter that we might be in the middle of a pandemic or that the economy is struggling because God, the owner of cattle on a thousand hills, is not moved by what we are moved by. He is the God of all flesh and nothing is too difficult for Him. Begin to liberate yourself of all fear and crippling anxiety by trusting in God as Peter confidently did when he walked on water towards Jesus. Go a step further than Peter, and maintain your unwavering trust in God; His eyes are on you, and He will not allow you to sink. You will notice, as the disciples did, that the very thing which caused you anxiety will soon be the source of your serenity.
